  • Sebastian Hofmann has risen from training as an industrial clerk to head of training and development at Fritz Winter. Here he reports on his professional career.

I am Sebastian Hofmann and have been working at Fritz Winter since 2019. I started my career with an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk, also in an iron foundry. After a dual bachelor's degree in business administration and a subsequent master's degree in business psychology with a focus on personnel development, I continued my professional career as head of personnel development at Fritz Winter. In this position, I and my team are responsible for the creation of personnel development concepts for specialist and management careers, as well as for internal and external training programs. In addition, there are a variety of other tasks and topics such as the supervision of commercial and IT training together with the training officers as well as individual trainee programs in coordination with the specialist departments.

Since May 2023, my area of responsibility has expanded to become Head of Training and Further Education. In addition, together with my team of eight employees, I now oversee all training and development topics from a single source. These start with recruiting trainees for 16 different apprenticeships and providing training for over 120 trainees in two training centers, and end with supervising dual students. Furthermore, our department is responsible for topics such as training events and training competitions, student internships, and final theses for bachelor's and master's degree programs.

In my job, it is particularly important to me to support employees and trainees in achieving their professional goals. This starts with providing the trainees with a sound and successful training, which is fun and awakens the desire as well as the interest for more. By the latter, I mean the topic of continuing education. "You never stop learning" is what I always say to our trainees and employees who are interested in further training to become a technician, master craftsman, business economist or even to study at university. It is always a great pleasure for me to see the professional paths and careers that the trainees take after their training and the employees take after the corresponding further training. With motivation, ambition, commitment, enthusiasm, joy and reliability, the many facets of the possibilities within training and further education are open to everyone, from trainees to employees, to successfully follow their respective professional and personal paths at Fritz Winter.
