Successful recertification by the classification society ABS

Successful conclusion of the manufacturer approval by the certification society ABS for our plants in Laubach and Stadtallendorf. The manufacturer approval contains rules and provisions for ships and mobile offshore units in international waters.

ABS is the abbreviation for: American Bureau of Shipping

ABS with its headquarter in Houston, Texas, founded in 1862, is one of the worldwide leading classification societies for ships, oil platforms and other maritime constructions as well as their components at more than 400 sites in more than 100 countries.

The certificates for the main location Stadtallendorf and the secondary location Laubach had to be renewed as their validity expires in 2021.

On August 04, 2021, an inspection of the plants and the corresponding quality procedures took place. The installations are considered to be suitable for the production of cast iron components for ship applications. In accordance with the ABS approval message, the ABS rules, the named standards and the ABS approved drawings.

The approval will be valid until 2026, subject to the compliance with the relevant ABS rules as well as inspection requirements and the annual confirmation by an ABS representative.

These rules imply provisions for the security, reliability and environmental protection provisions ships and mobile offshore units have to comply with in international waters.

With this manufacturer approval, Fritz Winter continues to be in a position to supply products for the ship construction.
