Groundbreaking for the future

With the start of construction for the new production plant at Franklin (Kentucky), the company Fritz Winter Eisengießerei GmbH & Co. starts a new chapter of its company history full of traditions. On a surface of approx. 25.000 square meters, the new construction of a foundry with a mechanical machining shop will be generated.

In order to celebrate the construction project, members of the General Management, of the staff and of the family Winter jointly launched into the solemn groundbreaking on 21 september.

Fritz Winter is in a position to look back to a longtime experience with the American market. In 1966 already, the export of first castings to the USA started. Now, Fritz Winter is strengthening its position on one of the most important key markets of the automotive industry and invests more than 100 millions of Euros in the construction of the new production site. A milestone in the globalization strategy and the company history of meanwhile 65 years.

The selection of Franklin in the US state Kentucky was not an accidental one. The site is centrally located between the European automotive manufacturers in the South and the US manufacturers in the North and with this offers the perfect basis for the acquisition of new customers and the expansion of existing customer relations. Franklin disposes of an excellent infrastructure and a mature business culture with a highly qualified labor supply. The company from Stadtallendorf plans to engage at first approximately 200 employees on site. A further expansion is planned.

It is expected for the 3rd quarter of 2017 that the construction works will be completed, the new foundry will be opened and the first brake discs will be delivered according to the already acquired orders.
