Toolmakers in this specialist field are qualified for work in the production and maintenance of products manufactured by means of punching and metal-forming technology.

They produce, mount, check, maintain and repair milling, forming and processing tools, appliances, gauges and templates. These are tools required for serial production. For example these tools are used for punching out parts from sheet metal or for forming punched-out parts by means of pressure. The tools are manufactured by hand and mechanically with high dimensional accuracy; they are produced individually or repaired according to a drawing.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 1/2 years.
