The mechatronic technician’s work field is located at the interface between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. It concerns machinery and plants as well as systems and system components where mechanical and electronic functions interact.

An example of this is the programmable machine tools. Mechatronics technicians are assigned to repair and maintain those machines and plants.

The apprenticeship lasts 3 1/2 years.
