Machine and plant operators are responsible for setting up, refitting and operating machinery and plants. They prepare work processes, check machinery with regard to certain functions and thereafter put them into service.

They carry out inspections at regular intervals and are also entrusted with maintenance work. This entails, for example, replenishing oil, coolants and lubricants, changing wear parts such as seals, filters or tubes and readjusting the play of the movable parts.

The apprenticeship lasts 2 1/2 years.
